Manual assembly or a manual assembly station is when a worker carries out a value-adding activity (e.g. assembly) manually or with a predominantly manually operated machine in the work area. The use of manual assembly / assembly stations in the market and industry aims to carry out work without a highly technical machine park. For example, simple activities such as laying cable harnesses as well as complex ones such as packaging spring packages are part of the area of application of manual assembly.
The application is fundamental for the use of a manual solution. In industry, there are wide fields of application for the use of such a station. In the majority of cases, such applications/stations are always used when the budget is tight or a technical solution could only be achieved with a high financial or technical investment.
If a decision is made in favor of such an application, it is determined where exactly the risks for the employee lie. The intended activity can be carried out using "intrinsically safe" applications, such as edge protection on corners, clamp locks and many other applications. For work that requires a high degree of sensitivity, there is much to be said for using such a workstation, as machines can often only achieve this with a high level of technical effort.

Saving on complex technical designs
Flexibility of an assembly line is maintained
Personnel costs must be offset against a technical solution
