Automatic assembly / station

Automated machine performs value-added work

Definition of an automatic Assembly

Automatic assembly or automatic assembly station is when an automated machine carries out a value-adding activity (e.g. assembly) in its work area. The use of automatic assemblies or assembly stations in the market or industry aims to have work carried out by a machine. For example, activities such as pre-inserting screws and final tightening by the machine are part of automatic assembly.

Application case decides

The application case is fundamental for the use of an automatic solution. In industry, there are wide fields of application for the use of such a station. In the majority of cases, such applications or stations are always used when a high output and a stable work cycle are to be achieved. People usually feed the material to the machine and the machine uses this material to do its work.

"Dangerous" work is also done quickly and easily by machines. If a decision is made in favor of such an application, it is determined where exactly the risks for the employee lie at the interfaces to the machine. The intended activity can be carried out using "intrinsically safe" applications such as light grids, clamp locks and many other applications.

Advantages:

  • Saving on personnel

  • Stabilization of work cycles

  • Flexibility of an assembly line is maintained

Disadvantages:

  • Personnel costs must be offset against a technical solution
